Our Year 2 Staff

Class Teachers:  Mrs Milanovic (Monday and Tuesday) and Mrs Baker (Wednesday-Friday)

Support Staff:    Mrs Hall (Monday- Friday Mornings only)

Homework

Reading: Please hear your child read as much as possible, ideally five times a week. Once you have read with your child, please write in their reading diary and don't forget to colour in a star. Once your child has read 30 times, they will receive a reading certificate in our Celebration Assembly. Don't forget to login to Oxford Owl to access our online reading platform. 

Numbots: The children in Year 2 love using Numbots, in class, to support their learning. Please encourage your child to use Numbots as often as possible to support their learning.

In addition to this, children will be given a task every half term linking to their learning to complete at home. 

Class Routines

PE - Thursday PM (Mr Woods) and Friday PM (Mrs Baker)

Library - Year 2 will visit the library every Friday.

Sharing books - Children's sharing books will be changed every Thursday

Phonics

Children at St. Michael's Primary School are taught phonics through a systematic programme called Read Write Inc. This is a highly regarded scheme designed to help children learn to read fluently and confidently through a structured and engaging approach. Children will be taught in small groups based on their phonological knowledge and their progress will be assessed every half term.

Parents are also welcome to sign up to use Oxford Owl, where you are able to access a wider variety of books for your child to read online.

Parent Helpers

If you are interested in helping in your child's classroom, please speak to Mrs Squires in the office. If you are able to help with our upcoming sewing unit, please speak to Mrs Baker for more information. We will be sewing every Wednesday for the next few weeks.
