In addition to this, children will be given a task every half term linking to their learning to complete at home.

For a more detailed overview, please see the curriculum overview at the bottom of this class page.

Phonics

Children at St. Michael's Primary School are taught phonics through a systematic programme called Read Write Inc. This is a highly regarded scheme designed to help children learn to read fluently and confidently through a structured and engaging approach. Children will be taught in small groups based on their phonological knowledge and their progress will be assessed every half term.

Please take a look on the Read Write Inc website for more information www.ruthmiskin.com/parentsandcarers/

Parents are also welcome to sign up to use Oxford Owl, where you are able to access a wider variety of books for your child to read online.

If you have any questions about Read Write Inc and Phonics, please speak to Mrs Baker or Mrs Milanovic.

Parent Helpers

If you are interested in helping in your child's classroom, please speak to Mrs Squires in the office.

We are currently looking for three parent helpers to join us on our local walk into Sandhurst. Our local walk will take place on Thursday 9th October 9-11am. If you are able to help, please speak to Mrs Squires in the school office and Mrs Baker will be in touch. Thank you for your support in advance.

On Tuesday 4th November 10:15-11:30am, Year 2 will be walking down to Horseshoe Lake for our Bonfire Experience. If you are able to help walk the children to Horseshoe Lake, please let Mrs Squires in the office know and Mrs Milanovic will be in touch.
