Year 2 Live version of The Rose Bower

Class compilation picture

GREAT BRITISH ART WEEK: Year 2 have thoroughly enjoyed studying The Rose Bower by Edward Burne-Jones. They have not only found out about the artist, his painting and the era within which he painted but they have created their own versions and based their writing lessons on Sleeping Beauty. Keep checking out this page for new work uploaded!

Spring 2.

Welcome Back to school! It is great to welcome back the children into Year 2. I am so very proud of all the work that they completed in Lockdown.

British Art: To kick start our term, we will be exploring The Rose Bower by Edward Burne-Jones. The children will have the chance to examine the period of art in which the piece was created and have first hand experience of completing Art in the same way. Keep any eye out for photographs on Twitter and on the class web page.

Literacy: Our writing for this half term, will be around Sleeping Beauty as it ties in with the above mentioned artwork. The children will be further developing their knowledge of grammar such as adjectives, powerful verbs and adverbs, and using this to further improve their writing.

Maths: We will be starting with a quick recap of the subjects taught in Lockdown and then moving onto fractions and money.

Reading: Please read regularly with your child at home and ask the children questions about what they have read. The reading reward scheme is back in action too! Every time a child has read at home 5 times, they are a step closer to achieving their reading certificate.

PE: We will have PE on a Wednesday and Friday, children must come to school in their PE kits and earrings need to be taken out.

Home Learning: Home Learning will be given out and handed in every Wednesday using the Home Learning books. There will be either a Maths or English task as well as Spellings and Times Table Practise.

If you have any queries, questions or concerns, please contact the school office by telephone or email and they will pass on your query to myself.

Stay safe,

Mrs Kay Fawkes
